Teacher Horizons is a collaborative community of educators. To enable us to keep it free for teachers, we encourage all our members to participate and contribute towards the information we share on our website. This will ensure our community can make informed decisions based on accurate, up-to-date information.
Teachers can collect badges to demonstrate their participation and involvement in the community. This can be anything from representing their school as an ‘ambassador’ to writing a blog to share with our community.
Below is a summary of the badges teachers can achieve and how they can acquire them. The schools we work with value these badges as they demonstrate how proactive a teacher is within the Teacher Horizons community. Achieving badges will also increase the visibility of your profile to the schools we work with.
School Ambassador
What is it?
If you are a teacher at a Teacher Horizons school, you can become an ‘ambassador’ for the school. Ambassadors are responsible for ensuring that their school profiles are complete and up to date including the community FAQs section.
How do I get it?
There can only be one Ambassador for each school. To find out if your school already has an ambassador, check the ‘Community’ tab on your school’s profile page. If you currently work at a Teacher Horizons school that does not have an ambassador, email info@teacherhorizons.com and request to become the school’s ambassador. We will be in touch with more information.
School contributor
What is it?
Teachers get this badge if they have contributed constructive and accurate information about a school they have worked at. An easy way to contribute is to answer these community FAQs about a school you have worked at. Another way is to contribute additional information to a school’s profile page or by flagging incorrect information about a school on Teacher Horizons.
How do I get it?
If you contribute information about a school, a member of our team will activate this badge on your profile within a few days. If for some reason your badge hasn’t been activated, email info@teacherhorizons.com explaining how you contributed and when.
Guest blogger
What is it?
Teachers can achieve this badge if they write a guest article or contribute in some way to the Teacher Horizons blog.
How do I get it?
If you would like to write an article or contribute towards an article, please email your idea to editor@teacherhorizons.com.
Referrer
What is it?
To achieve this badge, teachers need to refer a friend or colleague who becomes an ‘activated’ member of Teacher Horizons.
How do I get it?
If you have recommended Teacher Horizons to a friend or colleague, just email info@teacherhorizons.com with your name and the profile link of the friend who you referred. We will then activate this badge.
Profile strength 100%
What is it?
This badge is straightforward – you simply have to complete all the information on your profile so that your profile strength is 100%. This includes adding additional photos, videos and having at least three references completed.
How do I get it?
This badge will appear automatically if your profile is complete. When your profile reaches 100%, please allow at least 24 hours for the ‘profile strength’ badge to appear on your profile before emailing info@teacherhorizons.com’.
International school experience
What is it?
This badge indicates whether you have taught at an international school already. We offer this as a badge as some of our schools seek teachers who already have some international experience.
How do I get it?
You guessed it – you have to gain some experience at an international school before this badge is activated. If your profile indicates that you have taught at an international school before, but this badge is not activated within 24 hours, please email info@teacherhorizons.com and we will activate it for you.
Taught at a TH school
What is it?
We work with some of the best international schools in the world. Many of the schools we work with value teachers who have experience teaching at Teacher Horizons’ schools. So this is a chance to show that you have already taught at one of our reputable schools.
How do I get it?
As above, there’s no easy way to get this badge other than working at one of our partner schools. If the school has a profile on Teacher Horizons, that counts! If you have taught at a school that has a Teacher Horizons profile, this experience should be listed under the work history in the ‘Experience’ section of your teacher profile page. If it is, this badge should appear automatically within 24 hours. If it is not, please email info@teacherhorizons.com and we will activate it for you.
Thanks to everyone for helping to build our community and helping us to keep Teacher Horizons free for teachers. Our aim is to build a valuable ‘home’ for teachers so that we can make better-informed decisions about our next move.
