Teacher Horizons international school visits

Teacher Horizons is much more than a recruitment agency. We are a community of international educators who connect meaningfully, explore opportunities and share experiences. Our aim is to be a truly valuable ‘home’ for the international teaching community.

Our school visits form part of this vision of collaboration. Teacher Horizons staff coordinate visits with our partner schools when we are in the vicinity; this provides a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our partnerships and to boost the visibility of the schools within our wider community. We share photos and videos of each school we visit on our social media channels to signal to our community members vacancies that might interest them and schools that might be their perfect match.

We invite you to explore the media and reports of our school visits below: they’re a celebration of our partner schools and we hope will provide you with inspiration in finding your next teaching position and international destination.

Interested in showcasing your school to our community? Invite us for a visit, and we’ll feature you on our social media and newsletter! Email us to get started.

The British School of Lisbon

Visit date: 18th October 2024

  • TH team member: Alex Reynolds
  • Role: CEO

I recently visited the British School of Lisbon and had the opportunity to meet with the Head, Steve Spicer. Steve welcomed me warmly and provided a tour of the school’s facilities, including a visit to the new secondary campus, which opened this term. The secondary campus is located in a fantastic setting next to a football stadium. While parts of it are still under construction, it promises to be an impressive addition to the school. During the visit, I also learned about the school’s exciting new partnership with the football club, which includes a striking school bus decked out in a hybrid of BSL and the club’s colours and branding. The school should have vacancies soon so stay tuned for more updates!

“Today, I visited Runnymede in the beautiful city of Madrid, Spain. Runnymede is a British curriculum school just outside the main city. The campus has recently been upgraded and now features award-winning facilities. While it is only a short car journey into the city, the school also offers a bus service for teachers between the city and the school.

Runnymede is a family-run school that has been trusted by generations of families. It is a selective school and provides an academically rigorous environment that has consistently produced outstanding results. During my visit, I was greeted by staff and enjoyed a wonderful tour of the school. Madrid is famous for its fabulous weather, and this October day showcased the city at its best.”

“An exciting day at BIS HCMC! I had an amazing meeting with the incredibly experienced Principal, Anthony. He gave me a fantastic tour of the school, and let me tell you, this place is truly special! BIS HCMC is an urban school that knows how to maximise every inch of space. The facilities here are top-notch, offering a wide range of subjects like music, psychology and design. But what really stole my heart was the library and student spaces. The students themselves were involved in creating these spaces, and you can feel their energy and creativity in every corner. Speaking of vibrant spaces, the school has transformed its indoors with lush greenery and pops of colour. It’s such a refreshing sight and makes the learning environment even more inspiring. And let’s not forget about the surrounding area! There are some fantastic cafes nearby, perfect for grabbing a delicious cup of coffee or a quick bite during break time. It’s undergoing a fantastic makeover, and the way they utilise the space within the city is truly impressive. They even have a spacious garden inside the school premises and a slide that takes you straight into the canteen! The thing that struck me the most about Dulwich College Seoul is their unwavering focus on student well-being and nurturing well-rounded individuals. Osaka YMCA International School

Visit date: 11th April 2024

  • TH team member: Sophie Peters
  • Role: Lead Recruitment Adviser

“I had a brilliant visit to Osaka YMCA International School. Located in the heart of Osaka, the school offers a vibrant, dynamic, and culturally rich environment for both students and staff. Established in 2001, YMCA responded to the demand for an international school and has since become a highly sought-after institution. It’s no wonder they’ve earned their fully accredited IB status, with their first batch of DP students already graduating.

The thing that stood out to me the most were the incredible programs they offer. In the Early Years, the green-fingered staff lead gardening projects in collaboration with local food banks, creating a beautiful and impactful learning experience. The concept-based PYP exhibitions and the emphasis on student voice in decision-making, like choosing IB subjects, truly sets this school apart. But it doesn’t stop there! Osaka YMCA International School fosters a highly inclusive culture. They have a dedicated inclusion coordinator to support EAL and SEN students, and all teachers play a role in creating a nurturing environment. Plus, teachers enjoy lighter timetables compared to other schools, allowing for ample planning and preparation time.”

  • TH team member: Alex Reynolds

“I recently visited Hoi An International School (HAIS). It’s a charming, small but growing school located on the outskirts of Hoi An, a beautiful, historic Vietnamese town frequented by tourists from around the globe. The school is nestled by a picturesque river and lush paddy fields, and it’s only a 15-minute drive from the beach. The campus is green, tropical, and adorned with lanterns, reflecting the essence of Hoi An.

During my visit, I met Kelsie, who heads the HR department at HAIS. Originally from the US, she was previously a Math teacher in Hanoi, where she connected with Emma from Teacher Horizons. Kelsie was incredibly welcoming and gave me a comprehensive tour of the school. I had the pleasure of meeting various teachers and staff members, all of whom seemed to genuinely enjoy their work and life in Hoi An.”
